I relish in the pursuit of both my art and my angling, and when these two worlds meet, it can be a very special time and place. I invite you to explore these crossroads with me.
PATRICK F. DUKE
born to paint and fish
I have been fishing and creating artwork for as long as I can remember. My father put a fly rod in my hand when I was five, and I started tying flies when I was seven. Over the years, I grew to appreciate the unique challenges that fly-fishing has to offer. For me, fly fishing has evolved from an appreciation to an obsession. That obsession has taken me from backyard creeks to jungle lagoons and all across the world. As a result, I’ve been inflicting friends, family, and clients with this obsession as a professional fly fishing guide in Western Colorado for over fifteen years. In the last five years, I’ve been hosting anglers to some of my favorite fly fishing destinations around the world; Russia, Mexico, South America.
As a child, I also found myself compelled to capture my time spent outdoors. When I wasn’t outside, I was home drawing and recreating my experiences both seen and felt from nature. I now draw upon my countless hours outdoors to provide the inspirations for my landscape paintings.
Navigating a career path concentric with both my art and angling is what I consider my greatest achievement. I’ve never chosen a work field base on the money; it’s the lifestyle and personal fulfillment these career paths afford that has always appealed. Fly-Fishing has taken me around the world, introduced me to my closest friends, granted me my best stories, and will continue to influence both my life and artwork forevermore.
